The JHU ICBM-DTI-81 white matter labels / “JHU ICBM tracts maxprob thr25 2mm” atlas is a probabilistic diffusion tensor imaging–based atlas that parcellates major cerebral white matter pathways by labeling voxels according to the most probable fiber tract (e.g., corticospinal tract, corpus callosum subdivisions, superior and inferior longitudinal fasciculi, cingulum, uncinate fasciculus, and other association, projection, and commissural bundles) when the tract probability exceeds 25%, in 2 mm isotropic MNI/ICBM space. It was constructed by acquiring high-quality DTI data from healthy adults in ICBM space, performing voxelwise tractography and fiber-clustering across subjects, generating population probability maps for each tract, and then assigning each voxel to the tract with maximal probability above the specified threshold, yielding a “maximum probability” parcellation of white matter. The atlas is widely used to quantify lesion load or microstructural changes in specific tracts, to perform region-of-interest analyses in diffusion studies, to aid in tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS) interpretations, and to provide standardized anatomical labels in both research and clinical neuroimaging pipelines.
